My third CELTA teaching practice was my most challenging as it was my first ever grammar lesson. Specifically, I taught a grammar-focused lesson on using the imperative (Don’t be late!) and the modal verb should (You should study every day) to give advice.
The lesson begins with simple, everyday problems and builds step by step:
- noticing the difference between an instruction and advice,
- practising the forms through guided exercises,
- and finishing with freer speaking tasks where learners give advice in realistic situations.
This online version includes interactive activities such as matching, drag-and-drop, dialog cards, and quizzes, so you can practice the target language yourself.
