In instructional design, collaboration is key. Recently, myself and my fellow IDs at Texas State created a training course that sought to provide a group of faculty with:
- Knowledge and skills to implement active learning in
- Courses with hundreds and hundreds of students following
- A hybrid course model
A big ask. The work that myself and my colleagues did was highly effective. We knew campus was about to switch to Canvas, so we took the initiative and taught the course via a free Canvas account to give the instructors a head start with Canvas skills in addition to preparing them for their specific needs.
We chose to conduct the course as an active learning, hybrid experience, allowing instructors to experience this type of teaching as a student in addition to learning how to conduct such a course as a teacher. If you would like a taste of what we did, enroll in this sample copy of the course.
